Tooth decay prevention

Dental decay is caused by bacterial infection in the mouth. The bacteria produce acid which causes the tooth to decay. Regular brushing and flossing and a healthy diet are your best prevention. Depending on your decay situation alternatives such as fluoride, xylitol, antibacterial rinses and nutritional counseling might be needed.

Regular dental check-ups at Dr. Stickney's office are important to prevent tooth decay and catch it as early as possible. Laser decay detection can catch hidden decay before it is even visible on x-rays in certain areas of the teeth. Early detection allows us to do minimal dentistry and stop a problem before it becomes worse.

If you have any questions or need more information, don't hesitate to our office at 206 728-1330.
