How Does Invisalign Work?
One of our dentists, Dr. Stickney or Dr. Cziao, will take x-rays, pictures, and impressions of your teeth, which Invisalign will use to create a digital 3-D image of your teeth. Then we will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth, and tell you the approximate length of treatment.
You'll wear each set of aligners for 1-2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to their final positions. You'll visit the dental office as suggested by the dentist to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
Total treatment time averages 12-18 months, and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case. We recommend wearing your aligners for 22 hours a day.
